Outdoor Therapy

Outdoor therapy_edited.png

Outdoor therapy is a research-supported approach that uses the healing qualities of nature to support emotional well-being. Spending time outdoors has been shown to lower stress, ease anxiety and depression, and help people feel more grounded and present. At my practice, outdoor therapy may include walk-and-talk sessions, where movement supports reflection and connection. I also offer experiential activities, such as mindfulness or grounding exercises, and activities meant to highlight communication and self-discovery. I ensure that there are comfortable places to sit, slow down, and fully immerse yourself in nature while doing meaningful therapeutic work. I bring materials and supplies for all seasons and ask that you bring weather-appropriate clothing and a water bottle. We are mindful of your privacy, and during the intake session, I'll speak with you on how I honor this in public spaces.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-supported therapy that helps people heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. It works by using gentle bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements or tapping—to help the brain process memories that may be “stuck” and continue to cause emotional pain. Many clients find that EMDR reduces the intensity of painful memories, negative beliefs, and emotional reactions over time. This approach does not require you to relive experiences in detail or talk about them extensively. Instead, EMDR helps your nervous system do what it naturally knows how to do: heal and integrate experiences.
